Question from a friend of WordTruth Press:

>>>When will the world be at peace?
>>>

WordTruth Press Response:

You asked, "When will the world be at peace?" This is a question in the hearts and mind of people all over the world. We long for a day when people can live without conflict.

Unfortunately, the human nature has a selfish bent - this is the sin nature that is present in all humans since Adam and Eve sinned against God (Genesis 3). Because of this sin nature, conflict is a fact of life among people.

The Bible predicts a time called the Millennial Kingdom where the LORD Jesus will rule the Earth for 1,000 years. It will be a time of unprecedented peace because He will rule with perfect righteousness and justice:

Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this. (Isaiah 9:7, NIV)

Don't we all long for government leaders like this today? There will still be conflict because people will still have the sin nature - it will not be allowed to become widespread because justice will be served swiftly. Read more about life in the millennial kingdom in Isaiah 65:17-25.

However, at the end of the 1,000 years there will be people who rise up and oppose Jesus. They will be conquered along with the devil and all of his demon followers. At that time, the LORD Jesus will make our permanent home in Heaven with Him. Not until Heaven will the sin nature be totally removed - and we will experience perfect peace forever (Revelation 21-22).

May God bless you with His wisdom and the courage to follow Jesus!
