Question from a friend of WordTruth Press:

>>>  I am looking for a reference to the "mercy seat." What exactly is the mercy seat?

WordTruth Press Response:

You will find this reference in 2 Corinthians 5:10:
For we must all appear before the judgment seat [mercy seat] of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. (NKJV)
In this passage, the Apostle Paul makes it clear that believers in Christ have a home in Heaven and job on Earth -- to walk by faith in Him.  While the Christian was judged for sin 2,000 years ago when Jesus Christ died for our sins, the Christian will one day be judged for reward at the judgment or mercy seat of Christ.  Those acts of faith in this life, large and small, will be rewarded eternally.  Acts apart from faith in Christ will be considered worthless (ref. 1 Corinthians 3:11-15).

May God bless you with His wisdom and the courage to follow Jesus!
