We Have the Answers!

Scripture: Psalm 77

I cried out to God for help; I cried out to God to hear me.
When I was in distress, I sought the Lord;
at night I stretched out untiring hands and
my soul refused to be comforted. (Psalm 77:1-2, NIV)

Does this seem altogether familiar to you? Have you ever felt this way when something was troubling you beyond hope? As the Psalmist puts it, your "...soul refused to be comforted." The great thing about God's Word is that is deals ever so clearly with real life issues. The Psalms in particular deal with our relationship with God, our Creator. No other life issue could be so vital. Moreover, the Psalms vibrantly illustrate how that relationship works when life gets you down. We have many distractions in the world. We have many delights. We have many things to endure that seem to make no sense at all. And there are too many things that literally break our hearts.

You, child of God, "Be strong and of a good courage (Joshua 1:6, KJV)" because as children of the Most High God we have the answers to a world which asks the question - why? Dealing with frustration at the problems in our nation is high on the list. Why? Our country was founded on the principle that every person - take note, EVERY person - has certain basic "inalienable" rights. These are the right to: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Yet we seem to have lost sight of these individual rights. What's happening?

Life: Over 1,500,000 children each year are being prevented their "choice" to live, primarily for the convenience to the mother and father. Seriously ill patients are committing suicide with the help of "doctors". Comatose patients are being starved to death without considering their own wishes, again no "choice" to live.
Liberty: Children are the primary target here as the Government intrudes and literally takes over the parent's responsibility to "train a child in the way he should go" (Prov 22:6, NIV). The State is teaching religious theories - secular humanism and atheism in the form of evolution - as FACT! Christian teachers are being denied their right to speak the truth of God's Word to children begging for real answers.
Pursuit of happiness: This basic right is obliterated in a society which promotes "tolerance" of alternative lifestyles contrary to God's Word. It is prohibited in a nation which is "value-free" and considers all truth "relative" or "it just depends on what a person thinks". My friends, the Bible makes this point crystal clear: "The law of the Lord is perfect" (Psalm 19:7). Do you see what has happened? In the name of "tolerance" our nation stifles God's truth.

When this kind of frustration sets in, we need an attitude adjustment!

I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds. You ways, O God, are holy. What God is so great as our God? (Psalm 77:11-13, NIV)

Remember and meditate on the greatness of our God. He is bigger than our problems. Remember so that you can share these insights to your friends and associates. Consider, too, that God's ways are holy. The ugliness in our nation is caused, not by God, but by man's sin. We, the believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, must proclaim His truth to the world. We have the answers. But we can only make a difference in our nation if we make the truth heard - not our truth but the Lord's truth. What you or I think is just opinion. What matters is what God said!
