The earth is the LORD's and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein.  For He has founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the waters (Psalm 24:1-2, NKJV)

Then what kind of possession are you?  Let us consider the answer in terms of common objects found in a home.

Are you...
 

• An alarm clock reminding Him of your need to be touched daily?
• A lamp that needs to be powered up to shine brightly?
• An empty plate waiting to be filled so you can serve others?

Or are you...
 

• A garbage can ready to pick up and digest whatever trash is sent your way?
• An unwelcome rodent who pollutes every place he wanders?
• A lost book sitting on a shelf, unused and collecting dust?

God is looking for holy, usable vessels in His kingdom: "Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD? Or who may stand in His holy place?  He who has clean hands and a pure heart..." (Psalm 24:3-4, NKJV).  He is talking about much more than physical cleanliness.  God is looking for a soul cleansed from sin and desiring to serve Him.  He provided for this cleansing through the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ. Through the sacrifice of the sinless Christ for your sins.  His perfection offered for your uncleanness (1 Peter 3:18).  Jesus rose from the dead to prove He is the LORD God in the flesh with full authority to forgive you, cleanse you from all your sin, and make you into the holy, usable vessel He desires. When you trust in Him alone, God declares you holy in His sight.

Is there anything holding you back right now as God's possession?  Are you reflecting His light into the world or is His reflection tarnished by your sin?  If you have sinned, confess it to Him who so graciously promised that "He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, NKJV, emphasis mine).  Cleansed and refreshed by your good confession to God, seek to be a mirror.  Look intently toward His face and reflect His light and glory on His earth.  After all, you are His possession!
